Area agencies have been patiently awaiting for the United Way of Lawrence County’s Annual Day of Caring. Due to the pandemic last year this event ivas cancelled and many of our community projects were not completed. This event consisted of painting, cleaning, landscaping and remodeling that took oace rooav. thanks to the many volunteers rhar oave o their time and talents to held nonoront
agencies in our area. nis vear oy volunteers participated and comp ered projects in Ir communiry sires. In the past Day oF Caring hosted over 250 volunteers from corporations, businesses, churches. clubs and students and next year we anticipate being back to our record amount of volunteers.
The day started at 8am with a rull buffet breaktast donated by Medure’s Catering at the Cascade Park Pavilion. Mayor Chris Frye, Mavor or New Castle, oftered a speech on, A Vision for our community° He shared his story of his humble beginnings in New Castle and how he envisioned our communiry being a better place, it evervone would use their talents and gifts to serve one another. Luz Colon, Executive Director, PEGovernors Commiscion atino AFRice presented Mario Delgado, Latino commissioner Lawrence County with a proclamation, recognizing September as, Latno Hentade onto Casey Monroe, Sr. Director, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Adagio Health and Morien Hathawav, Executive Director, Pa Commission were included in the program to announce that on site covid-1s vaccines were available at Adagio Health Uttice, New castle.
